The opening of New Zealand’s 200th Subway store makes this one of the most successful countries in the world for the international sandwich franchise, says Regional Director Brian Tap. The 200th store — at Auckland Airport’s international terminal — was yesterday (Feb 7) opened by airport chief executive Don Huse.

Today, McDonalds crosses international borders and cultures with over 24,500 restaurants in 115 countries. Approximately 80 percent of these are franchised. Franchising is increasingly being used by New Zealand businesses as they realise the benefits that can be harnessed from the arrangement. |

The Hungarian owned retail chain Coop was named Franchise of the Year 2007, by the Hungarian Franchise Association (MFSz), the organization announced on Monday (Jan 28), the second time the award has been presented.
